When I visitted the Arizona ANG at Tucson, the 148th Fighter Sqdn operated ten or so Dutch F-16s for dutch pilot training.
The Dutch F-16s carried the Arizona ANG markings and they carried small Dutch roundel on the intake side as shown on the photo at left.
You can find the same Dutch roundel on the two photos (Dutch F-16Bs) above.
（上と左）ツーソン空港内にあるアリゾナANGを1993年4月に訪問しました。
当時162nd Fighter Wing隷下の148th Fighter Squadronではオランダ空軍の飛行訓練を請け負っており、
列線内のF-16の中にはオランダ空軍の小さなラウンデルをインテーク側面に付けた機体が十機程度見られました。
上２枚の写真はいずれもオランダ空軍のF-16Bですが、インテーク側面に小さなオランダ空軍ラウンデルが見られます。
左写真は上から二枚目（263号機）の機体のインテーク側面写真ですが、バルカン砲の砲口部の汚れが激しいです。
モデラー目線で見ると、263号機は胴体上面や後部側面が激しく汚れています。これもバルカン砲の硝煙の汚れが回り込んでいるんでしょうかねえ。
因みに、尾翼のフィンバンドはアリゾナの州旗を象っています。

This photo shows a F-16A-ADF of "ANG/AFRES Command Test Center (AATC)" which I photographed at Tucson IAP (Arizona ANG) on 03APR93.
I did find a couple of F-16A-ADFs of the "AATC" on the flight line.
The "AATC" is a unit of the ANG stationed at Tucson ANG Base, Arizona.
It is a tenant unit hosted by the 162nd Fighter Wing, Arizona ANG.
A photo at left shows F-16Bs of 148FS/162FW on the flight line.
上の写真は"ANG/AFRES Command Test Center"所属のF-16A-ADFです。
同センターはアリゾナANGの162FWのテナント部隊としてツーソンに所在しており、機体マーキングは一般のアリゾナANG機に準じています。
訪問当日は"AATC"所属の二機のF-16A-ADFがフライトラインに並んでいました。

Above photo shows a F-16A of the 184th FS, 188th FW (Arkansas ANG) which I photographed at Chatanooga airshow in Tenessee on 09MAY98.
This F-16A was a C/O's aircraft for the 188th Fighter Wing with the tail code "FS".
A Photo at left shows a baggage pod under the fuselage, and the letters on the pod can be read "188th Air Commander" on upper ribbon and "Col.Phil Bunch" below it.
テネシー州チャタヌガの空港で1998年5月に開催されたエアショーに地上展示された、アーカンソー州空軍188FWの司令官機です。
シリアルナンバーは尾翼（前方下）に小さく書き込まれています。
小写真は同機の胴体下にぶら下げられていたバゲッジポッドです。
左側面のみ綺麗にデコレーションされていて、三色リボン上には"188th Air Commander"の文字が、またその下には"Col.Phil Bunch"と書き込まれています。
ポッド後部の猪のマークは184FSの部隊マークです。
テールコードの"FS"は、ホームベースの"Fort Smith"市営空港からきています。

Above photos show F-16A-ADFs of the 194th FS, 144th FW (California ANG) which I photographed at Fresno airport, the home of the 144th, in May 1994.
194FS/144FW converted from F-4D to F-16A in 1989, and again to F-16A-ADF during 1990.
The unit converted to F-16C in 1995.

1994年5月にフレズノ空港の一角に所在するカリフォルニア州空軍194FS/144FWを訪問しました。
その約20年前の1975年（当時はF-106装備）にも訪問しており、大変懐かしい再訪でした。
同隊は1989年にF-4DからF-16Aに機種改変しました。
しかし迎撃飛行隊としてF-16Aの性能は充分でなかった為、翌1990年には上写真のようなF-16A Air Defence Fighter(ADF）に機種改変しました。
その後F-16Cに余剰が生まれて、1995年にはF-16Cに機種改変を重ねました。

The unit converted from F-4D to F-16A/B in 1989 and then up-graded to F-16C/D in 1994.

1994年2月にアリゾナ州デビス・モンサンAFBで撮影したイリノイ州空軍170FS/183FWのF-16Cです。
当時（現在でも？）米国北部に展開する州空軍のF-16部隊は冬の飛行訓練が悪天候で大幅に制限されることから、
二個飛行隊づつ約二週間の長さで冬でも好天の続くアリゾナ州デビス・モンサンAFBに飛行隊ごと移動して訓練をしていました。
その展開訓練を現地では"Snowbird"と呼んでいました。上の２枚はその"Snowbird"としてアリゾナにやって来たイリノイのF-16Cです。
テールコードの"SI"はホームベースであるSpringfield市の"S"とイリノイの"I"を組み合わせたものです。
キャノピーの後方にはANGエンブレムがロービジ仕様で描かれています。

These photos show F-16Cs of the 174th FS, 185th FW (Iowa ANG) which I photographed on the transit ramp at Luke AFB in May 1994.
The unit was(is) home-based at Sioux City, IA and this distinctive tail markings carried state and city names on the fin.
Please note....(1) unit nickname "The Bats" is applied in light grey aft of the canopy, and
(2) the 174FS badge is applied on the left side of the jet intake dipicted on the photo immediate above.
The unit converted from A-7D/Ks to F-16C/D in 1991-92.
In 2002 the unit converted again to KC-135E, then to KC-135R in 2007.

これ、小生が大好きなテールマーキングです。それが1994年5月にルークAFBを訪問した時に、何と外来機ランプにいたんです。
かなり興奮してしまいました。尾翼に書かれた"Sioux City"とは同隊（174FS/185FW）が所在するアイオワ州西部の都市です。
それは『スー族の街』という意味で、尾翼下側にもスー族インディアンの絵柄が描かれています。
キャノピーの直ぐ後ろには同隊のニックネームである"The Bats"がライトグレーで書き込まれています。
また下段の写真ではインテーク左側面に174FSのエンブレムが貼ってあります。
同隊は1991から1992年にかけてA-7D/KからF-16C/Dに機種改変されましたが、
その後2002年にはKC-135Eへ、そして2007年にはKC-135Rへ機種改変されています。

These photos show F-16A of the 127th TFS, 184th TFW (Kansas ANG) which I pictured at Vandenberg airshow in California in June 1990.
Please note the 184TFW badge applied on the intake side in low-visibility fashion.
The unit converted from F-4D to F-16A/B in 1987, to F-16C/D in 1990, to B-1B in 1994, to KC-135R in 2002.
The 127th is now designated as 127th Command and Control Sqdn with no flying units.

1990年6月、カリフォルニア州バンデンバーグAFBでのエアショーに地上展示されたカンザス州空軍127th TFS, 184th TFWのF-16Aです。
Jayhawksは同隊のニックネームですが、184TFWのエンブレム（ロービジ仕様）がインテーク左側面に描かれています。
127TFSの機種改変履歴としては1987年にF-4DからF-16A/Bへ、1990年にF-16C/Dへ、1994年にB-1Bへ、そして最後は2002年にKC-135Rです。
現在は127th Command and Control Sqdnという部隊名となり、飛行機の運用は行われていません。

I took these photos at Hancock Field, Syracuse, the home of the 174TFW (New York ANG), in August 1991.
Bottom photo shows a F-16B assigned to the C/O. 174th Fighter Wing.
The unit nickname "The boys from Syracuse" is applied in dark grey on the fin.
The unit converted from A-10A to F-16A/B in 1989, and at the beginning of 1991,
the 138th TFS deployed to the Persian Gulf in support of Operation desert Storm.

1991年8月にNY州のSyracuseへ行く出張が有りました。もし仕事が早目に終わったら、NY州空軍のF-16を撮影しようと思って、ダメ元で出張にカメラを持参しました。
有難いことに仕事は早目に終わり、早速レンタカーをHancock FieldのANGベースに乗り付けました。
アポ無しの飛び込みでしたが、経験上の勝算は充分有り、やはり飛び込みでもエプロン上での撮影を許可されました。
その日の写真から二枚だけ掲載します。下段の写真は174TFSの司令官機です。
同隊は1989年にA-10AからF-16A/Bに機種改変され、翌90年末には現役復帰して、1991年にデザートストーム作戦に実戦参加しています。
上の写真は湾岸作戦から帰国して半年ほど後の姿です。

Top photo shows a Commander's jet for the 174th Fighter Wing.

前述の冬期移動訓練"Snowbirds"でデビス・モンサンAFBに展開してきたNY州空軍のF-16Cです。
91年にSyracuseで撮影したF-16A/B時代の写真（上掲参照）と比較すると、キャノピー後方のマークが鳥（多分ファルコン）からコブラ（のようなモノ）に代わっています。
また航空団の表記が"174TFW"から"174FW"に代わっています。
モデラー目線で細かい事を言えば、尾翼の市松模様の目が少し荒くなっています。
それ以外はほぼ同じですが、174FWの司令官機（上段写真）は青と白の色付き市松模様が尾翼に描かれています。下段の写真は138th FSの隊長機です。
同隊は2004年以降MQ-9リーパー無人機を運用する飛行隊となり、有人機の運用は今後無くなると思われます。

These photos show F-16Cs of Ohio ANG (112FS/180FW) flown from Toledo to Davis-Monthan AFB on their "Snowbirds" deployment.
The tail band is green with a map of Ohio (outlined in black) and a city name of their homebase "Toledo" superimposed in white over the map of Ohio.
The unit nickname "Stingers" and the Stinger marking appeared in dark grey on the lower part of the vertical tail.
A photo at left shows a squadron badge of the 112th FS which was applied on the left side of the jet intake.

尾翼のフィンバンドは緑ですが、その中央に黒線でオハイオ州の地図が描かれ、その北端にトレドの位置を示す白い星が描かれています。
白で書かれた"Toledo"はデトロイトからも近いオハイオ州北端の都市です。
尾翼下側の"Stingers"は同飛行隊のニックネームですが、そのマークが名前の後方にダークグレーで描かれています。
小写真は同隊の飛行隊バッジですが、インテークの左側面に付いているものです（よって上写真には写っていません）。同隊は現在でもトレドでF-16C/Dを運用しています。

Please note the tail code "OH" and "178FW" which were shadowed with white.

The unit is now reconnaissance sqdn with MQ-1 Predator.

When I visitted Luke AFB in November 1992, I was lucky enough to photograph Oregon F-16s on the transit ramp.
They were one F-16B (top photo) and one F-16A-Air Defence Fighter.
Baggage pods on both aircraft carried the words "114th TFTS" (1st line) and "Oregon ANG" (2nd line) in black on the left side of the pod.
The unit converted to F-15A/B in 1998, and to F-15C/D in 2004.

I took these photos at Luke AFB, Arizona during 1992-94.
The unit was based at Luke at that time operating F-16C/D with tail-code "LR" or "Luke Reserve(?)".
The tail band was yellow with a red trident superimposed on it.
A map of Arizona (outlined in black) appeared on the fin with the "Sun Devils" marking in the Arizona map.
The 302nd is now based at Elmendorf AFB, Alaska with F-22 Raptor.

同部隊は当時ルークをホムベースとしており、ニックネームは"Sun Devils"（太陽の悪魔）です。
テールコードは"LR"ですが、恐らく"Luke Reserve"の意味付けだと思います。
尾翼の部隊マークは同隊の飛行隊エンブレムからきていますが、
黄色のフィンバンドには赤のトライデントが重なっています。
また、その下には黒の縁取りでアリゾナ州の地図が描かれていて、その中に部隊のマスコットである"太陽の悪魔"が描かれています。
同飛行隊は現在アラスカ州エレメンドルフAFBでF-22ラプターを飛ばしています。アラスカでは"太陽の悪魔"が使えませんね。
