This aircraft (BuNo.144867) served as a TA-3B trainer in the US.Navy, It first entered service with Hughes in 1969 with "N14867"(?) at first and then re-numbered some time later as "N577HA".
This aircraft was later transferred to Raytheon and they operated this NTA-3B at Van Nuys, CA during 1990-2002 with "N877RS".
This was the only A-3 fitted with an Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) in the rear fuselage. It was transported from San Diego to the Pacific Aviation Museum in Pearl Harbor aboard
USS Bonhomme Richard in February 2012. Color scheme is light grey overall, and the aircraft still retains USN/Raytheon marking at the museum.
本機はTA-3B(A3D-2T)として1960年に米海軍に納入されました。本機が最初にHughes社へ委託されたのは1969年で、
当初の民間レジは"N14867"だったと思われますが、その後"N577HA"に変更されました。
その後Raytheon社に移管されて加州Van Nuysで1990年から2002年まで使われていたようです。Raytheon以前にグラマンで使われていたとの情報も有りますが定かではありません。
Hughes及びRaytheonではAN/AWG-9やAN/AWG-71レーダーの試験機として使われていました。本機はA-3では唯一APUを後部胴体に装備しています。2012年2月に本機はUSS Bonhomme Richardに載せられて
サンディエゴから真珠湾のPacific Aviation Museumに運ばれてきました。同機はUSN/Raytheonのマーキングをまだ残しています。まるで現用機のような素晴らしい保管状態です。
