This "JA8221" was built in 1978 and imported to Japan for use by the "National Institute of Polar Research".
The aircraft had been operated in the Antarctic zone for eleven years and retired with its total flying hours of 1,757hrs.
The aircraft is now displayed at an museum near Komatsu airport/Air Base in very good conditions.

小松空港の直ぐ近くにある石川県立航空プラザに展示されている"JA8221"です。
本機は国立極地研究所が輸入した2機のターボポーターの内の1機ですが、一号機の本機は1978年に製造されました。
11年間南極の空を飛び、総飛行時間が1､757時間でリタイアしたそうです。
非常に良い状態で保存されており、航空プラザの二階からガラス越しになりますが機体上面も撮影できます。
本機の1/48スケールのデカールが"Max Decals"（#4824）から発売されています。
その内小生も是非ローデンのキットでこの機体を作りたいです。
