Mitsubishi T-2 (KOUKI-type)

The JASDF received a total of 96 Mitsubishi T-2 advanced jet trainers between 1971 and 1988. The first four machines (serials 101-104) were prototypes, a total of 30 T-2s were ZENKI unarmed trainers (serials 105-124 and 147-156) and the remaining 62 T-2s were KOUKI weapons trainers with 20mm Vulcan rotary cannon (serials 125-146 and 157-196). The T-2 79-5193 which I photographed in February 2019 was one of the last production batch of the T-2 KOUKI type.

I had an excellent opportunity to take walkaround photos of the T-2 KOUKI 79-5193 shown on this webpage, which is preserved at Teikyo University's Utsunomiya Campus as an instructional airframe for the university students. It is displayed in a hangar in excellent conditions and a lot of access panels, including right engine panel, are shown in open position fortunately. I wish to thank Motozawa-san, Visiting Professor of Teikyo Univ., for arranging my visit to the university and for obtaining permission to take walkaround photos in the hangar. I'd like to say "Thank you" also to Niki-san and Amagai-san, who provided me with some cockpit photos for my website shown below.

大激作展でお会いしたＸ計画様から、お勤めになっている帝京大学（宇都宮キャンパス）で三菱Ｔ-２が教材として保存されている旨をお聞きしました。それでは是非写真と撮らせて頂きたいとお伝えして、2019年２月に撮影が実現致しました。我々（小生の他、模型仲間の二木さんと天海さん）の訪問をアレンジ頂いたＸ計画様に、改めて御礼を申し上げます。併せて、小生が撮り損ねた操縦席内の一部部位については、同行のご両人から各々数枚の写真をご提供いただきました。そのご協力にも御礼を申し上げます。

帝京大学で保管されているＴ-２は後期型の#194号機で、計９６機生産されたＴｰ２の中で、最後から４番目の機体です。保存状態は完璧で、現役時代の外観をほぼそのまま残しています。よって、機体全面に書き込まれたステンシル類も全て残されています。更に有り難いことに、アチコチのアクセスパネルが開いた状態で展示されていました。エンジンは抜き取られ、エンジンベイ内の細部をくまなく撮影できたことは最高の収穫でした。これらの写真を参考にすれば、エンジンベイを開けたプラモを完璧に再現できます。エンジンベイ内側は意外とノッペリした単純な形状をしており、これなら小生もスクラッチで作り込むことが出来そうです。

How to use the above drawings, 上図のご説明

The above drawings show all the access points (panels) which were displayed in the open position. I have put a location code letter in alphabet on each and every access point, as shown above, and superimposed the location code in red on the close-up photos of the access points for your reference.

アクセスポイント部の拡大写真では、いったいどこの部位の写真なのか分かりずらいため、上図の通りに割り振ったコード（アルファベット１文字）を写真の中に書き込みました。よって、撮影部位を特定したい場合は、そのアルファベットをキーにして上図と照合ください。
