Westland Wessex

I photographed the following four Wesses helicopters at Aviation museums in England during June-July 2014. The following walk-around photos are combination of these four Wessex helicopters (XT604/XS863/XV732/XR525). I put the serial numbers superimposed on each photo for your reference.
2014年夏に英国の航空博物館で計4機の以下Wessexを撮影しました。本ページにはこれら4機(XT604/XS863/XV732/XR525)の細部写真を取り混ぜて掲載しています。各写真には機体のシリアルを記載しました。

"XT604" Wessex HAR.2
East Midlands Aeropark, England

This Wessex HAR.2 "XT604" was displayed outdoors when I visited East Midlands Aeropark in July 2014. The condition of this helicopter was fairly good and I was able to photograph cockpit and cabin details. This aircraft was built in 1966 and operated with No's 103, 78 and 228 Squadrons. Its final flight was on 06DEC95 to RNAS Fleetlands for storage. This "XT604" was transferred to the Aeropark in July 2002.

イングランド中部にあるEast Midlands Aeroparkで撮影した英空軍救難ヘリコプター Wessex HAR.2 "XT604"です。屋外展示されていましたが、保存状態は悪くありません。また、コックピットやキャビン内も見学者に公開されており、これら内部についても撮影してきました。展示解説によると、本機は1966年に製造され、その後英空軍 103, 78, 228飛行隊で運用されたとのことです。最終飛行として06DEC95にRNAS Fleetlandsへ飛びしばらく保管されましたが、2002年7月にこのアエロパークに移管されたとのことです。

"XS863" Wessex HAS.1

This Wessex HAS.1 "XS863" is displayed at Imperial War Museum at Duxford and I photographed it in July 2014. The condition of this helicopter is very good and I was able to photograph top views of this aircraft from the observation deck on the second floor. "XS863" entered service with the Royal Navy in 1963. The aircraft served with 815 Sqdn.(HMS.Ark Royal), 706 Sqdn.(Culdrose), 826 Sqdn.(HMS.Hermes) and Aeroplane & Armament Experimental Establishment(Boscombe Down). It was grounded as a result of a fire, and acquired by the Imperial War Museum in October 1981.

DuxfordにあるImperial War Museumの屋内展示館で、英海軍の対潜ヘリコプターWessex HAS.1 "XS863"を2014年7月に撮影しました。周囲に置かれた展示物が邪魔して撮影出来ない部分もありましたが、二階の展望デッキから機体上面の撮影が出来ました。展示解説によると、本機は1963年に英海軍に引き渡されました。その後の所属部隊変遷としては古い順に815 Sqdn.(HMS.Ark Royal), 706 Sqdn.(Culdrose), 826 Sqdn.(HMS.Hermes), Aeroplane & Armament Experimental Establishment(Boscombe Down) となり、用途廃止後の1981年10月にImperial War Museumへ移管されたとのことです。

"XV732" Wessex HCC.4

This Wessex HCC.4 "XV732" is displayed at RAF Museum at Hendon and I photographed it in July 2014. The condition of this helicopter is very good and I was able to photograph the VIP cabin interior which was maintained in perfect condition. Two Wessex HCC.4s entered service with The Queen's Flight at RAF Benson in June 1969. From March 1995 they moved to RAF Northolt and became part of No.32 (The Royal) Squadron. This "XV732" made its last flight on 31MAR98 with 10,949 flying hours during its service life.

ロンドン郊外にあるRAF Museumの屋内展示館で撮影した英空軍クイーンズ･フライト（王室専用機）のWessex HCC.4です。周囲が暗くてストロボ撮影となりましたが、機体表面のディテールがストロボ光でかなり潰れてしまいました。豪華なVIPキャビン内を掃除のオジサンにお願いして少しだけ撮らせてもらいました。 Wessex HCC.4は王室専用機として二機が製造されて、1969年に英空軍クイーンズ･フライト（RAF Benson）に配備されました。両機は1995年にRAF Northoltへ移動し第32飛行隊所属となりました。本機は31MAR98に最終飛行を行いましたが、現役時代の総飛行時間は10,949時間だったそうです。当博物館には2002年から展示されているようです。

"XR525" Wessex HC.2

This Wessex HC.2 "XR525" is displayed at RAF Museum at Cosford and I photographed it in June 2014. As you can see from the photo at left, the aircraft was displayed on the high display stand placed at the corner of the hangar, so I was able to photograph only its starboard side and its under surfaces.

イングランド中部にあるRAF Museum Cosfordに展示されていたWessex HC.2 "XR525"を2014年6月に撮影しました。左写真の如く、展示館の片隅でかなり高い展示台（ヤグラ）の上に乗せられていました。よって、機体右側面と下面しか撮影できません。それでもWessexの複雑な下面細部を撮影するには都合が良かったです。
