....Photographed in July 2016
I visited the National Museum of the USAF in Dayton, OH. at the end of July 2016 before I attended the IPMS/USA's National Convention held in Columbia, SC.
Frankly speaking, I was not interested in building X-15 model at all until I saw the X-15A-2 s/n.66671 displayed at the USAF museum.
It carried a pair of large fuel tanks painted in orange and white and the orange/white tank showed an excellet color combination against the black paint scheme of the X-15.
I instantly became interested in building a X-15A-2 model and I looked for a Spacial Hobby's X-15A-2 kit in 1/32 scale during my stay at IPMS Nats.
A photo shown at above right shows the X-15A-2 kit in 1/32 scale which I found at the IPMS National Convention, and I hope I can build the kit in the near future.
This aircraft is the second machine of the three X-15s, and this was the fastest X-15, reaching Mach 6.7 in October 1967.
