YF-23 s/n.87-801 is one of the only two YF-23 prototypes built in 1990. #87-801 was the second prototype which made its first flight on 26OCT90. This YF-23 is currently preserved
in the remote area from the main building (hangar) of the Western Museum of Flight located at Torrance airport in California. With great support from the museum,
I was able to get into the remote display area of the museum to photograph thier YF-23.
I recently heard that Hobby Boss was going to release a 1/48 scale YF-23 kit, so I decided to upload the YF-23 walk-around photos on my website.
2012年11月と2013年8月にロスアンゼルス近郊のトーランス空港にあるWestern Museum of Flightを訪問し、そこに保管されているYF-23の細部写真を撮影しました。いつかは小生のHPで公開しようと
考えていたのですが、先日ホビーボスから近々YF-23のプラモ（しかも1/48！）が発売されると聞いてビックリ、急遽前倒しして今回掲載することにしました。わずか２機しか生産されなかったYF-23
試作機の内の大切な１機を、何故あまり有名でもないこの小さな博物館に保管されているのか、ちょっと不思議でした。博物館に聞いてみると、この博物館は元々ノースロップ社の工場が以前あった
ホーソン飛行場に同居しており、その時代からノ社とは深い関係にあったとのことです。ここのYF-23は現在博物館本体（格納庫の中）から１km程離れたトーランス空港の片隅に他の数機と共に展示
されています。展示とは言ってもこのエリアは金網で囲われた立入禁止区域にあり、博物館側にお願いしてエスコートの方に連れてきてもらう必要があります。今回は一脚を使って機体上面も
しっかり写してきました。エンジンの排気口周辺もカバーしてあります。因みに、本機（87-801）は試作2号機で26OCT90に初飛行しています。
